Solutions to poverty are varied, and include improvements to education, agriculture, health care, and even transportation. But as Keetie Roelen, co-director of the Center for Social Protection at the Institute of Development Studies, in Brighton, England, argues, another aspect of poverty – the sense of shame that it imposes – receives far less attention than it should.
