In the Shadow of the Taj Mahal

Pakistan’s self-appointed president, General Pervez Musharraf, will meet with India’s elected prime minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, from July 14 to July 16 in the city of Agra, home of the famed seventeenth-century Mughal monument to love, the Taj Mahal. Their meeting is meant to help cool long-simmering tensions between India and Pakistan, tensions made more dangerous when both countries became nuclear powers.
