In Sudan, the African Union avoided its past mistakes and was essential to defusing the country's long and dangerous political crisis. Now, it must continue to play a constructive role in the country, maintaining engagement with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition – and apply the lessons from Sudan more broadly.
